I Belong To you
-----------------

The desk in my office overlooks a huge glass window.
Looking through this window has been like watching a
movie. Everyday I see people walk through the narrow
pathway alongside the road. I see people waiting at
the bus stop across the road. I see people rushing to
attend the job fair held at the nearby Santa Clara
Convention Center. I see kids being dropped off at the
Great America Theme Park (right opposite to my
window). I see young men & women walking hand in hand
and having a good time. I see cops give a speeding
ticket. I see humming birds, sparrows and squirrels in
the trees.
Each day of the year my window brings me life in every
form. But every time I watched them, I felt lonely
inside. I wished if Reshma (my sister) washere, she
would have loved this so much. I remembered my
parents, my sister, the fun I had back home, people
whom i knew and understood. All that seemed so far
away. And this sadness held me back from appreciating
and enjoying
the life that unfolded before my window everyday.

The first day of 'The Art Of Living' when I was asked
to say 'I belong to you' to everyone in the class, it
sure sounded strange. My mind was flooded with
thoughts. Will I be able to say it? Will it sound odd
when I say it? What will the other person think of me
when I say it? Will he/she laugh at me? Till the
minute I said it I had doubts of how I am going to say
this to
a stranger and mean it. I will always remember &
cherish the sensation I felt when I said 'I belong to
you' for the first time to a perfect stranger.
Something in me stirred and changed forever. The
minute the words came out of my mouth, I realized I am
connected to the other person in ways I can never
begin to understand and surprisingly I had also meant
every word. The minute I said those four words, I knew
that this course would change me forever and it did.

Today as I see people walk by my window every day,
they don't look like strangers anymore. I have the
power to run out to them, hug them and say 'I belong
to you' and mean it completely.
I still remember my parents, my sister and my country
a lot and I know deep in my heart that I will go back
but that doesn't spoil my today. I can appreciate the
beauty and love that today beholds.

Are these four words new to the English diction? Of
course Not. We have known these words all our lives
but never had the insight or will to say them aloud.

Just imagine how different the world would be today if
each one of us had the courage to look into the eyes
of a complete stranger and say 'I belong to you'.
Imagine what would these four words do to the
terrorists if each one of us hugged them and said 'I
belong to you'. They would melt away.

These four words hold in them the entire universe. It
is so hard to accept this fact but it is so TRUE.
These words said aloud only makes me realise that life
in this universe is ONE it has just taken different
forms. Like the drops of mercury which can take any
shape they want and yet when brought closer they
become ONE.

We all are ONE and we belong not just to each other
but also in each other. The sooner we realize this
fact, the sooner we accept this fact, the sooner we
will be able to see the divinity in us and in every
living creature that exists in the universe.

I have always belonged to you, I belong to you now and
I will always belong to you..
